The Shuttle was created by Nik
I got this pretty little thing 3 days ago from a friend, just needed a lot of cleaning an a fresh OS.
Label says it's from 2004.
Just swapped the 40 GB harddrive for a 80 GB one and upgraded the RAM from 768 MB to 1,5 GB.
Tried to put it a gfx card, but it refuses any card I tried.

SPECS
Shuttle XPC SK43G
flexATX FX-41 mainboard with VIA KM400 chipset
AMD Sempron 2300+ (someone upgraded it before)
1.5 GB DDR Kingston RAM
80 GB Samsung HDD @ SATA
Toshiba DVD-RW @ IDE
S3 gfx chip onboard

I love these little machines I built quite a few socket A versions and the odd Pentium 4 one back in 2003-2005 for customers.

I actually had a Socket 775 one myself a few years back, just as socket 775 was being phased out a UK supplier was selling them very cheap brand new and boxed it performed quiet well.

I always liked the CPU cooler idea with the plate on the CPU its self leading up to a heatsink via some heat pipes with a fan exhausting the heat :-)

I like this cool idea, too.
I used a hot air torch to dry the parts after showering them.
Too bad it's only socket A...
I'm out of CPUs for that so it keeps the lame sempron.

as it's just a side project, I'll keep it in mind, but without priority.
there are some other project to finish first, like the former "furry" asus A7V8X-X, the dfi lanparty DK 790GX (oops, spoilered  )and some more.
plus I REALLY need more PSUs...

PSU's and optical drives are the things i always run short on!

I could've gotten an old shuttle PC for about $15 from some guy on Craigslist about a year ago, but than all of a sudden he stopped texting me. I just recently texted him about it and he told me that he'd check if he still had it. Still no response :(

It would be even cooler, if I can get a agp card to work. then it's a very cool machine for retro lan parties as it fits easily in my backpack. ;)

odd that its refusing to take any GPU, does it just not boot at all? given the AGP slot a good blow out? Running the latest BIOS? not that it should cause any issues but always good to rule it out. have you tried a basic AGP card to rule out power draw?

yeah I tried this at first, none of the cards worked.
It refuses to boot and I'll have to reset the bios after every try.

Ah that's a shame. I know modern xpc models run standard mini itx, could make a cool sleeper!

Finally reworked the shuttle, new HDD as the the SATA controller died, new DVD-RAM (old one won't open anymore), switched from 1,5 GB to 2x512 MB RAM, exchanged Sempron 2400+ with Athlon XP 2400+ AND got it running with a MSI Geforce4 TI 4200 64MB.
STRIKE!
