Hello everyone! This is my main pc that I have named
Redline
It started out as an amd based build back in November 2013. I bought the parts with the money that I got from my summer job and it set me back
7300 Swedish crowns (900$).
The specs back then was:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 750K w/ CM Hyper 212 EVO
GPU: Gigabyte Windforce R9 270X 2GB
RAM: Corsair Vengance 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
MOBO: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 mAtx
HDD: 1TB Western Digital 7200Rpm
PSU: Corsair CX600M
CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R
It was nothing special back then but it was enough for the games that I played at the time.
I was running it like this for about 3 years and I added an Intel 530 120GB SSD and 500GB Western Digital at some time in those 3 years as well.
In 2015 I decided to do some modding to the case, so I cut out a hole in the side panel and installed a piece of acrylic and some rubber on the edge of the hole.
I realized that I could not close the side panel because of the thinknes of the acrylic, so I bought a Corsair H80i AIO and sold the 212 to my friend because he was in need of a better cooler.
.
I also installed a piece of aluminium on the roof of the case to cover the fan grill because it does not have a dust filter and I did not want any unnecessary dust to fall down in to the case. I cut out the front panel to get better air flow and put some mesh and a dust filter in the hole (picture further down).
I did not like that you could now see the rats nest of cables in the bottom of the case so I asked my father to make a PSU cover out of some aluminium (He is a tinsmith
). I got it a few days later and installed it in the case with some screws. It turned out great IMO.
I had seen some cool custom water cooled builds on YouTube and alot of the featured RGB lights. I thought it look awesome so I bought an NZXT RGB kit and installed it as well.
(Here you can see the top cover and the front panel mesh.)
In January 2016 I bought a Windforce GTX 770 4GB from one of my friends for a good price and it gave a nice fps boost in games
. The stock H80i fans were pretty loud and I needed better air flow in the case so I bought two Corsair SP120 fans to put on the rad in push pull and two AF120 fans to install as intake in the front.
Ran this setup to May 2016 when I decided it was time to upgrade. I bought a MSI Z170 PC MATE motherboard, 8GB HyperX DDR4 2133Mhz ram and a Pentium G4400. I was surprised by the Pentiums performance in games, but let down by it's multi tasking performance. I did not have the money at the time to get a better CPU, so I hade to wait until my birthday in December to buy one. Until then I watched benchmarks and read reviews on Skylake CPUs and in December I decided to buy an i5 6600k
.
So this is my current setup
CASE: Modified Corsair Carbide 200R
CPU: Intel i5 6600K @4.6ghz
CPU COOLER: Corsair H80i w/ 2x Corsair SP 120mm
MOBO: MSI Z170 PC MATE
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB
RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR 4
PSU: Corsair CX600M
SSD: Intel 530 120GB
HDD: WD BLACK 1TB 7200RPM
HDD: WD BLUE 500GB 7200RPM
Really happy with the whole system at the moment! I can play games at med-high settings at 1080p 60fps and the whole experience using it is very snappy
Future plans are to get a EVGA SC GTX 1070 but I will have to wait until late August when the retailers get it back in stock because of the miners buying all of them
Thanks for reading!
Sorry for the bad pictures in the beginning
I hope to hear some feedback from you guys!
