I'm in between builds at the moment, shifted off my old machine - Funny enough the Fractal Design Mini is the only part of the original build left so will most likely re use that!

Currently using a Dell (but a powerful one!) to see me by!

ive not decided yet, been hanging off to see how Ryzen panned out, and now I'm keeping an eye on Intel Socket 2066 and waiting to see if we get a price war!

I'm not a big gamer which makes a new build a little cheaper! I just like brute processing power! Currently running an i7 6700 (not a K) with 16GB of DDR3 ram and an OCZ Trion150 SSD. Its blisteringly fast for what I use it for but I do miss having something custom, and I know my next move means moving over to DDR4 (my last few upgrades ive re used my ram) and id like to move over to M2 SSD.

I would have thought the 6700 being skylake would have used DDR4 ram. I know some early 1151 boards still used DDR3 though.

yea my Asus Maximus Vii Hero board has the M.2 slot Ive got a 120Gb M.2 drive as a system drive. Ive not had this system boot with a standard SSD so its hard to say if it makes any difference.

yeah its an odd combo! Typical Dell! for an OEM system however it performs nicely, while making next to ZERO noise, using little power and all in a tiny SFF case so its actually alright, and the cost considering your getting a Windows 10 licence made it cheaper than I could possibly have built myself even using the likes of biostar motherboard, cheap psu etc!

my OCZ does 550MB/s Read 520MB/s write so I cant think of many situations where I will need more than that but its nice to know you can haha!

Got this Coolermaster HAF 932 some years ago for my daily machine and still love it (but it weighs quite a ton)...
I'm gonna replace the original cpu SCREAMER with a watercooling kit, this one's way to loud.

Thx a lot, Martin.
With a case like this, it's quite easy to arrange the cables very clean. it came with a lot of black screws and some small zip ties.
The fans were all pre-installed, it has 230mm fans in the the front, the side and on top.
The fan in the back measures 140mm.

ah never noticed the top one either due to it being black and blending in! I bet they shift a serious amount of air at a low RPM nice and quiet?!

It's not easy to spot it when you don't know it's there... ;)
It IS pretty cool 'n quiet, front fan runs at ~340 RPM, the other ones at ~1150 RPM.
But when the boxed CPU air SCREAMER fires up to 6000+ RPM, that's anything else but quiet.
That's why I want to replace it with a watercooling kit next month.

So you need a bigger desk, James. ;)

Mine was the last one in store and they couldn't reorder it.
Saved some money on it cause it was the one from ‎their exhibitation with fingerprints all over it.
