Hi! I recently bought an old windows 98 computer for a sleeper build that i wanted to make, but I searched for the motherboard type and i got some strange results, there are people ( 3 sellers ) asking huge prices for a very old pc motherboard! 100-140$, i can't seem so find much results about this motherboard. is this something rare?
google images found some results but only from 3 diffirent sellers on ebay, i also searched on Motherboard.cz and i found the motherboard type but no info :(
are there any people who have this motherboard or know something about it? thanks!
manufacturer: Soltek
type: sl-54P5
Socket: Socket 7
if you have questions be free to ask them!
ps: the pictures are not mine, but they are exactly the same.

Soltek motherboards were actually not bad. Socket 7 boards hold a good premium and that ones during the cross over from simm ram to dimm ram so has both sockets and also an at power connector as well as atx!

Good find!

Thanks, glad to hear it, and welcome to the Forum!

its very rare to come across a Soltek, in the UK at least. I believe they were manufactured in the USA, I may be wrong however! A socket 7 motherboard is always a good find. What spec is the rest of the machine? does it still run?

Good spec, so you gonna keep it as a running machine rather than your original sleeper project?

Make a nice win 98/dos gamer! Any pics of the case? I'm a sucker for a beige case which i assume this baby is in? Hehe

Strange problem, so you don't enter a password just hit enter and occasionally its booting to the desktop and occasionally not? Windows 98?

It's a while since i done any fault finding in win 98 but my memories are that its a nightmare when things start going wrong! Sometimes a fresh install is the best option.
