I have no experience with windows 2000 and DOS gaming however a quick google search brings up this forum post...

You have three options with DOS Games and Windows 2000:
1) Disable sound on the games. Most DOS games make direct calls to the sound hardware, and Windows 2000 doesn't allow programs to do this. Sometimes disabling the sound will allow the program to run.
2) Find an updated (non-DOS) version of the game. Some old Games (Doom, etc.) have freeware versions that will allow them to run windowed.
3) Upgrade to Windows XP. XP is supposed to work with DOS games that make direct sound card calls.

The ram combo should work assuming that board supports 64mb sticks, some boards may support for example 128mb max ram but that limit is divided by its total ram slots, so 32mb x 4 slots, however you should be fine with 64mb sticks, maybe just 128mb sticks and larger that would be tricky.

that's an odd one with the ram displaying less than what it actually is ?

Windows XP should go on machines with 64mb of ram, 128mb is recommended. In my experience Windows XP runs better than Windows 2000 on lower powered machines once you turn off the theme to windows classic and turn of system restore etc.

ive had my Win 98 machine out tonight for a play! :-D
