2017 was a great year for us, We went from uploading random videos of our antics to doing some nice projects and builds, plenty hacking and then finally in the second half of the year the Forum was launched.

Being a small team, who fit HwH in as a hobby around our day jobs and life's this can take its toll. Our videos are pretty basic due to a low budget and time constraints but each video can take up to 2 weeks to produce between research, finding parts, ordering parts, organising the build and lastly filming and editing, and ultimately we try and deliver the best we can with what we have.

Building the forum took a lot of time and resources so the channel took a little back seat, then personal requirements between work, home life, Christmas etc all built up and we have taken the last few months to focus on this and now, into February with some more free time we are looking to re launch and get back into doing what we enjoy.
  • YouTube - The YouTube channel has been building and gaining pace in the background so we are looking to re launch this. We are investing in some new equipment for filming, lighting. There seems to be a split 50/50 between people who would like to see voice overs and people who enjoy the different style of on screen reading. We would appreciate some feedback on what people think on this subject and where we should take it?...
  • Forum - The forum is now complete and running nicely, so now all that is left is for us to re launch it and do a member drive to get some new members signed up, which will in turn require some additional help with some moderators, more on that soon!
  • Social Media - Our social media accounts were buzzing most of 2017 with regular updates and discussions, we are looking to get back into this with our Facebook at www.facebook.com/HardwareHackers and Twitter at www.twitter.com/HWHackers so stay tuned

  • Lastly we would appreciate any feedback in here on what you would like to see for the Channel, the Forum and the Social media to help us take it in the correct direction :-)

    Thanks

Martin,

At first, I wanna give you a big THANKS for building this forum, I really like this "place".
I think, everybody understands that you guys need some time for yourselves (christmas, new year, easter etc).
we all have a life/family besides the computer/forum/retro/facebook stuff (at least I hope so :P)that's more important than anything else.
I know how much you spent on HWH (like the big overhaul SpruceGuy did), so taking a break is more than OK.

I really like the diffrent style of your vids (can watch them at work without getting noticed :P ).
Reading the text makes it even easier to understand for non-native english speakers (automatic generated subs on YT just S**K IMHO).

Keep up the good work and always remember:
Even Rome wasn't built in one day (nor a year or century ;) )

Cheers
Nik

Thanks for the kind words Nik! The style of the videos generates a 50/50 split, some people like them other dont. I quite like the style but a recent house move has created a new "studio" that should give us some more space and toys to possibly try something different!

YouTube is generating a little, not great but a little revenue which should allow us to spend a little more too!
