Recently built myself a Windows 98 Gaming machine to relive my child hood games. Nothing fancy, its actually much better spec than what I would have used at the time. Its a Dell OptiPlex GX150, Socket 370, I threw in a PIII-S 1.4GHz, 512MB ram and a 20GB HDD. Also threw in a SFF AGP GeForce MX440 32MB. Spent most of the week so far re living my youth but that got me thinking, What games did you enjoy the most when growing up? This could be interesting as we have the potential for a large spread of age gap on here!

The one I probably played the most would be Red Alert and Red Alert 2 - Still a fantastic game to this day - Sometimes when you play a retro game you remember playing it for weeks/months then after 10 minutes of playing it today you find it boring compared to 4k, epic graphics, mega action that we are spoiled with today but I can still get lost in Red Alert for hours!

Network Q Rally. Got this with my first PC and spent YEARS back and forward playing it! Ive been playing it for a few hours this week and where of course its less involving and more basic than todays modern rally sim or racing games the memories of playing this are brilliant :-)

And of course Doom 2 - While ive still yet to try this on a 3dfx video card - I'm told it makes it look much better!

My youth was spent with an Atari 2600 and a zx spectrum playing PAC man...
that was only on wet days.. if it was dry we were put out the door
