sandpaper should be good enough to get the fin grinded off so you won't cut yourself while installing the backpanel. ;)

Just try and cut it marginally too small so you can then widen it as required rather than too large! A small hacksaw blade should do the trick if you don't have a jigsaw available.

I would usually attack it with the trusty angle grinder but that's over kill and I'm a bit harsh with things lol

This is how the front turnet out! :D




I think that it is looking good and will work well to mount the fan. I still have not attached the panel to the case but I will do that tomorrow using some rivits. :)

if you leave some...ehm...braces while cutting the hole for the fan, you'll get a little more stability in your construction. this also decreases vibrations.
when you place them at the position of the fan braces, they won't disturb the airflow. ;)
